Dr. Shweta Kumar
Dr Shweta Kumar grew up in Newcastle and completed the HSC with a UAI of 100. She then studied Medicine at the University of New South Wales and graduated with Honours. She went on to complete a Masters of Medicine with the University of Sydney. She completed further specialty Physician and Rheumatology training at Royal Prince Alfred, Royal North Shore, Royal Newcastle and Canberra Hospitals.
After establishing South Coast Rheumatology in Nowra and Shellharbour, Dr Kumar fell in love with the Illawarra-Shoalhaven area and is now proud to call this coastline her home. Dr Kumar sees a variety of Rheumatological conditions affecting tendons, ligaments, joints, bones and the immune system. She has a particular interest in Inflammatory Arthritis such as Psoriatic Arthritis, Gout and Autoimmune Diseases.
Dr Kumar empowers her patients to take control of their condition, working in collaboration to create individualised management plans to improve function and quality of life.
She is up-to-date with the latest research and therapies and has presented research at national and international meetings on Rheumatoid Arthritis and Gout.
Dr Kumar offers tele-health services for regional and remote patients. She has practices at Shellharbour, Nowra and Wollongong.
